Skydiving Parachutes

We often get questions about the cost and material of the parachutes we use. I thought I would share some basic info about the gear we use for skydiving. Parachute systems vary as much as cars do. There are all different sizes and configurations. They are so varied that it would take a 20 page essay to go into all the details about each type. In this blog I will give our readers a little more info about the parachutes we use to Tandem Skydive in Virginia. With Tandem Skydiving there are two people suspended under the parachute system, the instructor and the customer. Of course with two people there is added weight so the square footage of our canopy is much larger than it would be for a single skydiver. Tandem parachutes are also usually designed to not be as high performance as a single skydivers parachute. Think of a Tandem Parachute flying over Virginia as a large safe…

Skydiving in Virginia’s Fall Season

Ok, now is my favorite time of year to jump from planes!! The Fall Season is an absolutely amazing time to make your Tandem Skydive. The sky is perfectly clear with no Summer Haze, and the leaves are starting to change colors. The view of the horizon is clear and the air is crisp. With the leaves changing colors, many customers actually want to open the parachute at higher altitudes so they have more time to see the scenery. We, of course, leave that up to you... but I highly recommend it. You won't get a better chance to view Virginia's Fall Colors. This is also one of our busiest times of the year, with weekends being the busiest. Make sure you reserve your skydive a few days in advance so you get the exact time you desire. Weekdays of course have more openings available. I have been skydiving for over 20 years and have made jumps all over the…

Skydiving Weather

One of the most frequent questions we are asked is about the weather for the day of their skydive. Yes, weather can effect if we will be skydiving that day or not. We try to not make a decision to cancel skydives until the night before, due to weather forecast being so inaccurate more then 24 hours out. Weather that we will cancel skydiving activities is for what I call "Winnie the Pooh" days. Days where it is just a soaking rainy day and you really don't even leave the house. Unless of course its to go see a movie but really nothing outdoors. We will also cancel if they are calling for really windy days where the winds are blowing up to 20 mph. On windy days we will usually give the customers the option to change their jump time to later in the day. Wind speed will usually slow down toward the end of the day. If you…

Skydive for your Birthday!

People decide to jump from a perfectly good airplane for many reasons. I always ask people what made them decide to make the big plunge so to speak. By far the number one answer is their Birthday. There is no better way to celebrate their special day then have an awesome adventure at No Limits Skydiving. This week a young lady came alone for her Tandem Skydive at our West Point location. She said it was for her 40th birthday and she wanted to celebrate her one year of cancer free along with turning a major milestone age. She explained that she has had a rough few years and that the disease of cancer made her open her eyes to making the most of life. She told us she had finally made a trip to South America that she always had wanted. Now she wanted to make a skydive. I love these type of skydives. Being able to share a…
